…Urges occupants to maintain the property

As part of activities to mark the year 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, the Commander Nigerian Army Training Centre Major General Abubakar Garba Lawal Haruna today 15 January 2026 commissioned two blocks of 12 units Corporals and Below quarters, refurbished Operational Vehicles and planted trees at the Kontagora Military Cantonment

. This was contained in a statement signed by Major Godfrey Anebi Abakpa, Assistant director army public relations, Nigeria Army training centre made available to newsmen.

The Commander during the event stated that the project was carried out by his predecessor and told the occupants of the newly built accommodation to maintain the property in order to ensure they are sustained for durability.

He stated that the project is part of the Chief of Army Staff(COAS),Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu’s initiative to provide adequate and comfortable accommodation in order to boost troops welfare and morale.

Also commissioned were 7 refurbished operational vehicles, which he stated were done to enhance lift capability for operational effectiveness in line with the command philosophy of the COAS.

Other activities to mark the day was the planting of trees by the Commander Corps of Artillery Major General John Adeyemo, represented by Brigadier General Murtala Idris, the Director Soldiers Professional Training Directorate Nigerian Army Training Center.

Other tree planters were, heads of security agencies within Kontagora including the Area Commander Nigerian Police, Nigerian Immigration Service, Correctional Service, Road Saftey Corps, National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and His Royal Highness Sarkin Sudan Kontagora Alhaji Mohammed Barau. The event was well attended as invited guests and members of the barracks community were all on ground to witness the historic moment.
