The Management of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, has graduated 18 students of the Standard Air Traffic Control and Surveillance Radar Course No. 02 (ACSR-02).
The graduation ceremony took place at the College’s Modern Ultra Auditorium Hall.
The ceremony was declared open by the Dean of the Air Traffic Services Communication School (ATS/COMs), Mal. Nasir Mu’azu.
In his opening remarks, he congratulated the graduating students on achieving this milestone, noting that their patience, hard work, and perseverance have finally paid off.
Mal. Mu’azu urged the graduates to discharge their duties professionally at their various stations by applying the skills and knowledge they acquired during the training period.
He once again congratulated them and wished them the very best in their respective stations.
Mr. Abdulwahab Musa, the Course Coordinator for ACSR-02, gave the course appraisal. In his words:“The course commenced on 24th June, 2024, and ended on 27th February, 2026, lasting for 65 weeks.
The course was divided into five phases, namely: ground studies/flight training, aerodrome control, on-the-job training (OJT), approach control, and surveillance radar control.
”The Course Coordinator also noted that the participants underwent six weeks of on-the-job training at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja; Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano; and Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
The participants gained practical experience in handling live traffic during this period.Two participants were withdrawn from the course due to poor academic performance, he noted.
At the end of the course, a success rate of 90% was recorded, the Course Coordinator declared.The Rector/Chief Executive, Dr. Danjuma A. Ismaila, declared the students “Graduates of NCAT.
”In his remarks, Dr. Danjuma appreciated the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for prioritizing NCAT. In his words:“I must specially appreciate the management of NAMA for sending their staff to NCAT for training.
I am happy to say that NCAT has upgraded its training facilities and is ready to train more personnel,” the Rector/CE noted.
Dr. Danjuma stated that the courses and training being conducted in the College are of ICAO standard; therefore, the infrastructure of the College must also meet ICAO standards.
He added that work is ongoing to upgrade all infrastructure in the College to ICAO standard, starting with the hostels.
The Rector/CE congratulated all the graduates and urged them to be good ambassadors of the College. He wished them a safe journey to their various destinations.
