……. Donates ₦10m to Borno Students

The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum,has commissioned two blocks of two-storey buildings comprising six units of three-bedroom flats constructed by the Borno State Government at the Federal University of Health Sciences Azare.

Governor Zulum was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Directors of the Ministry, and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, as well as the Executive Secretary of the State Scholarship Board.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Gubio stated that the Zulum administration remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding access to quality education for Borno indigenes.

He noted that the housing project was conceived not only to support Borno students studying at the institution but also as part of the state’s corporate social responsibility to the North-East region.

He conveyed the Governor’s assurance of continued support and additional interventions to the university.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), expressed deep appreciation to the Borno State Government for addressing the accommodation challenges faced by staff members.

He described the gesture as unprecedented, noting that Borno is the first state government in the country to undertake such a significant infrastructure project within the university.

During the visit, Engr. Gubio also met with students of Borno origin studying at the institution and announced a donation of ₦10,000,000 to support their academic pursuits.

In a vote of thanks, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Services) urged the Commissioner to convey the university’s profound gratitude to Governor Zulum, stating that Borno State’s contribution has left an enduring mark on the institution and set a benchmark
