The Zamfara State Government, has welcomed officials from the Office of the National Security Adviser and security experts from Colombia for a two-day training program focused on preventing and countering violent extremism, as well as providing integral reparation for victims of terrorism.
The Acting Governor and Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni (Masamar Mudi), received the delegation at Government House, Gusau.
He remarked that their visit was timely and would serve as a significant moral boost for those responsible for leadership in the state. Stressing that you have arrived at a critical moment when this administration is leaving no stone unturned in its determination to restore peace and stability to communities deeply affected by banditry and violent extremist groups.
Malam Mani emphasized that violent extremism remains a major driver of insecurity and a root cause of the prolonged unrest affecting Zamfara and many parts of Nigeria. He noted that the collaboration is crucial for designing more robust and inclusive responses to the state’s security challenges.
Acknowledging the delegation’s affiliation with the Office of the National Security Adviser, he expressed the urgency of addressing the scale of destruction caused by this crisis.
According to him,the people of Zamfara have endured profound losses. Countless lives have been lost, livelihoods have been destroyed, and access to farmlands has been denied to thousands due to the ruthless actions of criminal elements.
He encouraged the officials to gain deep insights into the ongoing commitments and proactive efforts of the Zamfara State Government in addressing violent extremism. Since assuming office two years ago, this administration has worked tirelessly with relevant stakeholders to combat insecurity across all fronts.
He urged all participants to make the most of this opportunity to listen, learn, and adopt innovative strategies that will benefit not only the government but the entire people of Zamfara State.
