The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has expressed his sympathy to communities and families affected by recent bandit attacks across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security.
The Governor stated this when he presided over an emergency meeting of the State Security Council at the Government House in Gusau.
A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the meeting was prompted by disturbing security developments, particularly credible intelligence reports indicating the placement of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along some highways in the state.
Governor Lawal also directed heads of security agencies in Zamfara to urgently review the existing security architecture and work collaboratively to develop a practical, clearly defined operational framework capable of addressing emerging threats.
“In line with his administration’s resolve to end insecurity in Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal convened an emergency security meeting with heads of all security agencies and relevant stakeholders,” the statement read.
“The meeting underscores the shared commitment and collective responsibility of the state government and security agencies to protect lives and property across Zamfara State.
Dauda Lawal further called for heightened vigilance, strengthened intelligence gathering, and immediate, coordinated countermeasures to curb the activities of criminal elements.He charged the security agencies to intensify efforts to stay ahead of these threats, deny criminals freedom of action, and decisively neutralise them.
”Governor Lawal also commiserated with the security agencies over the loss of gallant personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, as well as those who sustained injuries while defending the state.
