ZAMFARA PDP CONDEMNS PRESIDENT TINUBU’S UNCONSTITUTIONAL INTERFERANCE IN RIVERS STATE, WARNS AGAINST
THREATS TO DEMOCRACY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Zamfara State Chapter, under the able leadership of Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, strongly condemns the recent unconstitutional action of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in suspending and later reinstating the duly elected Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara.

This is contained in a statement signed by party publicity secretary Alh Halliru Andi issued to newsmen.

The statement said as a party, we hold firmly that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not confer on the President any authority to suspend or reinstate a democratically elected governor. Such an act amounts to a blatant abuse of power, a dangerous precedent, and a direct threat to the survival of democracy in our dear nation.

It therefore call on Nigerians not to celebrate this so-called “reinstatement,” but to unite in condemning the ugly action of the President which undermines democratic institutions, erodes the rule of law, and weakens the federal system of government.

Furthermore, we urge Governor Fubara to remain steadfast in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and resist every pressure or manipulation aimed at pushing him into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This is nothing but a calculated attempt by the President and his party to intimidate opposition governors, destabilize the PDP, and entrench one-party dictatorship.

Governor Fubara should instead focus on working with leaders of our great party to reposition the PDP as the true hope of Nigerians. The consequences of the President’s unconstitutional actions will only strengthen the resolve of the PDP to defend democracy and mobilize Nigerians to unseat him come 2027.

The PDP Zamfara State Chapter reaffirms its unshaken commitment to democracy, justice, and good governance. We call on all patriotic Nigerians, civil society organizations, and the international community to take note of this dangerous assault on our democracy and stand firm in defense of the will of the people.
