The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has received a delegation from Kano State on a courtesy visit.
The delegation was led by Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Getso, Chief Imam of Masjid Jami’ul Rahma, Kundila, Kano, and comprised academics and notable community leaders from the state.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Getso explained that the delegation was at the University to congratulate Professor Bunkure on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor.
He recalled that the Vice-Chancellor, a former Provost of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria, had over the years demonstrated consistent support for the annual Ramadan Tafseer programme organised at Masjid Jami’ul Rahma, Kumdila, Kano.
Members of the delegation included Malam Jabi Abdullahi Muhammad, a Lecturer in Chemistry; and Malam Yusuf Lawal Babale, a Lecturer in Economics, both of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano; Malam Zaharadeen Mannir Ja’oji of Rahama Radio, Kano; and Malam Musbahu Nasiru Tarauni, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor on Da’awah.
In response, Professor Bunkure expressed appreciation for the visit and subsequently led the delegation on a guided tour of the University’s Central Mosque, which is currently undergoing renovation through the philanthropic intervention of Alhaji A. A. Rano, a renowned businessman from Kano State.
The mosque, when completed, is expected to feature modern facilities including a clinic, conference hall, shops, male and female ablution areas, restrooms, accommodation, and offices for the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN).
