The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has inaugurated the 2026 Procurement Planning Committee of the University.
While inaugurating the 13-member committee, the Vice-Chancellor explained that its constitution is in strict conformity with Part V, Section 21 of the Public Procurement Act (2007).
The committee is chaired by Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, Vice-Chancellor of the University, with QS Abdullahi Maiwada, Acting Director of Procurement, serving as Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Malam Abubakar Alhasan (University Library), Malam Adamu T. Zailani (Maintenance Department), Malam Muhammad Aminu (Research, Statistics/Registry), Arc. Anas Aliyu Sambo (Works Department), and Malam Sa’ad Tajudeen (Bursary Department).
Also on the committee are Malam Hayatuddeen Aliyu, Esq. (Legal Unit), Dr. (Mrs.) Grace B. Uyagu (Acting Dean, Faculty of Education), Dr. Mu’awiya H. Usman (Acting Dean, Faculty of Science), Dr. Rabiu Hussaini Ibrahim (Acting Dean, Faculty of Arts Education), Professor Kabiru Haruna Danja (Acting Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Vocational Education), and Dr. Ayotunde Alaba Fadele (Acting Director, ICT).
Congratulating the committee members, Professor Bunkure urged them to discharge their responsibilities diligently and in line with the approved terms of reference.
These include conducting needs assessments and evaluations; identifying required goods, works, and services; carrying out relevant market and statistical surveys; analysing cost implications of proposed procurements; and integrating procurement expenditures into the University’s annual budget, among others.
While presenting appointment letters to members of the committee, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the need for integrity, transparency, and accountability in all procurement activities, noting that the committee is expected to serve as a critical think-tank for projects aimed at advancing the development of the University.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal maqarphy media aide to the VC said the Ag. Registrar, Mal. shehu Iya Sa’idu and Ag. Bursar, Alh. Muhammad Kabiru Aliyu, among other Principal Officers of the University attended the inauguration.
