VC Assures Students of Academic Excellence, Sustained Engagement

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to academic excellence and the welfare of students of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor stated this during an interactive meeting with leaders of students’ unions in the University, including the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN FUEZ), and the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS).

Addressing the student leaders, Prof. Bunkure reminded them of their responsibilities as representatives of the student body, stressing that “leadership is a trust, and you must always remember that you are the voice of the students you represent.”

A statement signed by Sani Lawal maqarphy media aide to the VC said the VC urged them to conduct their affairs with sincerity, transparency, and accountability, adding that students’ welfare must remain their top priority at all times.

Prof. Bunkure also assured the students of his openness to dialogue and collaboration, noting that “my administration is always ready to listen and work with you in order to achieve academic excellence and move the University forward.

”He further called on the student leaders to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence, irrespective of religious or other differences.

According to him, “our strength as a University lies in our unity, and you must see yourselves first as one family with a shared responsibility.

”He also advised them to guide their members towards good conduct and to be cautious in their choice of associations and clubs, warning that they should not be part of any association that promotes values that are contrary with the ideals of the University.

In an effort to strengthen communication and foster closer interaction between students and the University Management, Prof. Bunkure announced that such interactive meetings with students’ bodies would be convened fortnightly, stating that “regular engagement with students is necessary for mutual understanding and sustainable development.

”Earlier, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mal. Abdullahi Abdulkadir, who led the students to the Vice-Chancellor’s office, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his continued support for students.

He noted that the deanery remains committed to assisting students and serving as an effective bridge between the students and the University authorities.

Speaking on behalf of the students’ bodies, the SRC President, Comrade Yakubu Kalifa, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for granting them audience and commended his fatherly role, particularly on matters affecting students.

He pledged the students’ continued cooperation with the University Management to ensure a peaceful and conducive learning environment.

The Ag. Registrar, Alh. Shehu Iya Sa’idu and Ag. Bursar, Alh. Muhammad Kabir Aliyu were in attendance during the meeting.
