As Akwa Ibom is fast becoming a Destination of choice, the Akwa Ibom State Government has urged all residents to ensure they maintain a clean, green and serene environment as that is sure magnet for tourists and investors.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia made this known Saturday, during an eco-friendly and sensitization road walk around Uyo, Uruan, and Itu Local Government Areas as part of activities to mark the 2025 World Tourism Day celebration in the State.
The walk, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in partnership with the Akwa Ibom State Hotels and Tourism Board along with other tourism stakeholders had as its theme -“Tourism for Sustainable Transformation.”
In his sensitization and advocacy to the residents, the Tourism Commissioner harped on the gains of maintaining a clean, green, and serene environment, noting that a safe and hygienic environment is a natural magnet for tourists and investors.
He emphasized that, Akwa Ibom State under the Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda is ready to host the world with tourism and solicited the cooperation of all in keeping their environment clean and green at all times.
Among the tourism stakeholders and partners on the road work were: the Permanent Secretary Culture and Tourism, Mrs Grace Akpan, Chairman Hotels and Tourism Board, Mrs Ime Udo, HSA (Tourism), Mr Nkereuwem Onung, SSA Tourism (Hotels), Mrs Imabong Zoo, SSA Entertainment, Mr Sergeant James and Chairman Uruan LGA, Rt. Hon. (Surv) Iniobong Ekpenyong
