The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Oluremi Fadairo, has commissioned a newly constructed modern Medical Reception Station at Awkunanaw Barracks in Enugu State.
A statement signed by the Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations,82 division Nigerian Army said the newly commissioned medical facility is designed to enhance the welfare of troops and their families, while also extending healthcare services to civilians outside the barracks.
This initiative underscores the NA’s commitment to improving the quality of life of its personnel and fostering stronger civil-military relations.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Commanding Officer 103 Battalion (Rear), Major MB Abdulrahman, noted that the project is aimed at boosting the morale of troops as part of a comprehensive welfare package to ensure operational efficiency.
He emphasized that the initiative is in line with the pillars of Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) Command Philosophy, which prioritizes robust administration and operational readiness of personnel as a cornerstone for achieving operational success.
In his remarks, the GOC enjoined troops to make efficient use of the medical facilities and to cultivate a strong maintenance culture.
He assured residents that more developmental projects are underway, reaffirming that the COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, places the welfare of troops at the heart of his leadership philosophy.
Major General Fadairo further stressed that the projects will not only enhance the social and operational needs of the troops but also strengthen the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
He highlighted that the commissioning of the Medical Reception Station reflects the Army’s unwavering resolve to provide modern infrastructure that supports both operational readiness and family welfare.
The GOC expressed profound appreciation to the COAS for his foresight, resourcefulness, and guidance in ensuring the realization of the project.
He described the facility as a testament to the COAS’s dedication to transform the NA’s into a more professional, adaptable, combat ready and resilient force, capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi agency environment.
Highlights of the event included the GOC’s tour of the 103 Battalion (Rear) Medical Reception Station and group photographs with officers, soldiers, and members of the barracks community.
