The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Iyan Zazzau, has reaffirmed his commitment to members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), assuring them of inclusion and recognition for their sacrifices as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for future elections.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Zone 2 Steering Committee of former CPC members in Kaduna, Abbas Tajudeen said his emergence as Speaker was a product of the struggles and dedication of CPC members, noting that the party was once in opposition but is now in power due to commitment and unity.
The Speaker described the gathering as unprecedented, calling for unity and renewed dedication in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani. He pledged to wipe away the tears of former CPC members, respect them fully, and ensure that government initiatives reach Kaduna State.
Abbas further announced support measures for the group, including the provision of vehicles, plans to allocate vehicles to all local governments in the new year, regular radio programmes for the group, and quarterly meetings.
He urged members to operate strictly as a support group under the APC and not as a separate political party.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the defunct CPC, Alhaji Ahmadu Yaro Coca Cola, said the Speaker had done everything possible for former CPC members, pledging total support for President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, the Speaker, and all APC office holders ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also appealed for the inclusion of members in the dividends of democracy.Representing Governor Uba Sani, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Mu’azu Meyere, assured that the governor would continue to carry everyone along, stressing that former CPC members had not been forgotten.
He urged them to intensify efforts toward voter registration and renewal to ensure APC’s success in 2027.
Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, General Sani Saleh, expressed happiness over the Speaker’s presence, describing the initiative as timely and pledging that members would work 100 percent toward the success of the APC in future elections.
The Women Leader, Hon. Sheba Kura, recalled the stigmatization CPC members faced in Southern Kaduna, assuring that women would stand firmly behind the APC following the merger.
She expressed confidence that President Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen would secure two terms in office by God’s grace.
