The speaker of the Federal house of representatives,Dr Abbas Tajudeen has addressed distinguished colleagues at the General Assembly of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL) here in Rabat.

He conveyed the warm greetings of the Government and people of Nigeria, and expressed deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Morocco and its Parliament for the gracious hospitality and exemplary hosting accorded to all delegates.

Dr Abbas Tajudeen Also reaffirmed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to stronger parliamentary cooperation across the continent.

According to him, Legislative institutions remain the backbone of democracy, good governance, peace, and sustainable development in Africa, and our collective progress depends on continuous dialogue, shared legislative experiences, and purposeful collaboration.

The Speaker emphasized the need for African parliaments to work more closely in advancing regional integration, strengthening institutional capacity, and championing people-centered legislative reforms that directly improve the lives of our citizens.

He explained that as Africa navigates shared challenges and collective aspirations, unity among the legislatures is not optional—it is essential. Nigeria remains fully supportive of CoSPAL as a vital platform for legislative solidarity and the strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations across Africa.

Dr Abbas Tajudeen said “Together, we can legislate a future defined by inclusion, stability, and sustainable growth for our people.”
