SAFE SALLAH CELEBRATIONS: ZAMFARA SSG HOST SECURITY MEETING IN GUSAU.

The Zamfara State Government has held a high-level security meeting with heads of security and paramilitary agencies to review the state’s security situation and strategize proactive measures ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, chaired the meeting in Gusau, the state capital.

During the meeting, security agencies briefed the government on measures being put in place to ensure the safety of residents throughout the festive period.

The measures include the deployment of about 1,474 personnel drawn from the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), intelligence agencies, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units.

The personnel are to work in synergy with local authorities on intelligence gathering, surveillance, patrol, and traffic control to maintain public order across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state.

Addressing the security chiefs, Malam Nakwada said the meeting was convened at the instance of Governor Dauda Lawal to assess the security situation and evaluate preparedness for the Sallah celebrations.

He commended security personnel for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and property across the state.

The SSG assured them of the government’s continued support, noting that, despite limited resources, the administration remains committed to providing the necessary logistics to enhance their operations.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that the protection of lives and property is a collective responsibility.

Malam Nakwada further called on traditional and religious leaders, particularly Chief Imams, to intensify sermons that promote unity, peace, and harmonious coexistence.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the SSG, Suleiman Ahmad Tudu, the SSG also congratulated the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, and prayed for divine guidance in his new role.

The meeting was attended by the State Commissioner of Police, Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), representatives of the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, NSCDC, FRSC, and other relevant government officials.
