RIGAN NATIONAL PRESIDENT INAUGURATES NITT 2026 LOC

The National President of the Research Institute Games Association of Nigeria (RIGAN), Prof. Oluwaferanmi Owolade, has inaugurated the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2026 games.

The inauguration which took place at the Institute’s headquarters in Zaria was in preparation for the 19th RIGAN Games festival to be hosted by NITT in 2026.

In his welcome address, the Director General/Chief Executive, NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, who is also the Chairman of the LOC, expressed the Institute’s appreciation for the opportunity to host the bi-annual games once again, noting that the Institute was determined not only to meet the expectations but also to surpass the achievements and successes of the 2015 RIGAN Games which it hosted.

He urged the LOC to shun complacency, and embrace dedication, accountability and transparency. “The success of RIGAN 2026 will depend on early preparation, prudent resource management, attention to detail, and effective teamwork”, he said.

Speaking earlier, the RIGAN National President, Prof. Oluwaferanmi Owolade, disclosed that “NITT rescued RIGAN from total collapse in 2015”, adding that NITT was one of the pillars of the association.He further thanked the DG/CE for his unwavering support, while expressing optimism for even greater 2026 RIGAN Games.

Thereafter, the National President inaugurated the RIGAN 2026 LOC, who in turn pledged to diligently carry out their responsibilities towards the successful hosting of the 2026 RIGAN Games.

Earlier in his introductory remarks, the Chairman, NITT Sports Committee and NITT Bursar, Dr Hassan L. Abdulkadir, stressed the Institute’s commitment to hosting the best games ever. “We have done it before, and we can do it again”, he maintained.
