
President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to commiserate with the state government and the families of the kidnapped schoolgirls from the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga.
The visit is also meant to reassure parents and guardians that the government is taking urgent steps to secure the safe return of the girls.
The President also condoled with the military over the death of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers who were killed while confronting insurgents in Borno State.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the gallant officers, noting that he had been fully briefed on both incidents by military authorities.Tinubu lamented the abduction of the schoolgirls despite earlier intelligence warnings indicating a possible attack.
He commended Kebbi State Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts taken to avert the kidnapping and urged communities, especially those in vulnerable areas, to strengthen collaboration with security agencies.
The President emphasized that security agencies rely heavily on information from citizens to deliver effectively, calling on traditional rulers, community leaders and residents in conflict-prone areas to share timely intelligence that can help prevent further attacks and improve safety nationwide.
