..urges strict compliance with Saudi health guidelines
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has urged state medical teams to strictly comply with Saudi Arabia’s 2026 Hajj health guidelines.
The Chairman of the commission, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, made this known during a meeting with State Medical Team Leads at the Conference Hall of the Hajj House in Abuja.
Professor Usman explained that the meeting was aimed at kick-starting structured preparations for the 2026 Hajj medical operations and ensuring alignment with the health regulations issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which he described as mandatory and non-negotiable.
He emphasised that healthcare delivery during Hajj is a critical responsibility that requires early planning, effective coordination and strict adherence to established standards to safeguard the well-being of Nigerian pilgrims.
The NAHCON Chairman noted that as the regulatory body for Hajj operations in Nigeria, the Commission is determined to ensure that medical services provided to pilgrims meet acceptable international and Saudi standards through discipline, professionalism and collaboration among all stakeholders.
He assured the state medical teams of NAHCON’s full support, adding that the Commission will continue to provide guidance, coordination and oversight to strengthen medical preparedness ahead of the 2026 pilgrimage.
Professor Usman stressed that no aspect of pilgrim healthcare should be left to chance, as Nigeria works towards delivering safe and efficient medical services for its pilgrims during the Hajj.
