Politicizing Security will Scare Investors to Invest in Kebbi state, Gov. Idris

Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi state, has said that, politicizing Security will scare Investors to come into the state and invest with huge investment potentials available in the state.

The Governor who stated this while declaring open the the day state Annual Conference and Economic Development Summit organised by Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum, holding at Birnin Kebbi, said that some unpatriotic politicians of the state are using the advantages of the security challenge in the state to achieve their goals of scaring investors.

Governor Idris, stated that, despite the security challenges, on assumption of office, he has done alot to in tackling the security situation particularly in the southern part and is continuing to do more to ensure the state is  peaceful. Adding that, his administration has procured over 100 vehicles and over 1000 motorcycles to security agencies with a view to fighting the bandits and Lakurawa’s in the state.

He therefore called on the elders forum to warned those using the security situation to scare Investors from coming to the state to invest saying, the state is blessed with agricultural potentials and abandoned minerals resource, “we have gone to many countries of the world and we signed MOU with different investors willing to invest in Kebbi state”.

Governor Idris, said his administration has invest hugely in the education sector by renovating and constructing new schools and as well employment of qualified teachers, recruitment health workers and investing in the youth empowerment by lifting embargo on employment.

While wishing the forum a fruitful deliberation, assured them of bringing investors to the state to ensure more development and revenue generation as this is the first economic summit conducted in the state.

In their separate goodwill messages, the former governor of the state and serving Senator, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aleiro, while acknowledging the effort of the state governor towards tackling the security situation in the state, urged to do more to ensure the state become peaceful so as to attract investors within and outside the country while the state Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, urged the state government to prioritize education, saying that, growing population without education can result to youth restiveness and banditry.

Earlier, the Chairman Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum, Rtd. Major General Muhammadu Magoro, said, the forum was deeply committed to promoting unity, peace, progress and sustainable development of the state. This was what informed their decision to initiate the summit with the theme “Kebbi Ascends; Unlocking opportunities for inclusive socio-economic development of Kebbi state” which focuses on socio-economic development as the cornerstone of peace, security, stability and growth.

According to him, the topics selected resolved around critical sectors including agriculture, transport, Infrastructure, education, healthcare, Youth empowerment, commerce, trade and industry as well the role of public service as the engine room for socio-economic development. Also was designed not just to analyze challenges but to interact, deliberate and produce actionable outcomes with implementable recommendations that can support government,  private sector and relevant stakeholders in their responsibility of moving Kebbi state forward.
