The Nigerian Union of Retired Police Officers under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) has called on all its members nationwide to immediately converge at the National Assembly to appeal to the Senate for the swift passage of the harmonized Police Exit Bill.
The Kaduna State Chairman, Retired CSP Mannir M. Lawal, made the call on behalf of the National Coordinator, Retired SP Chris Effiong, in a press statement issued to journalists in Abuja.
According to Retired CSP Mannir Lawal explained that the retired police officers have been agitating for the removal of police personnel from the CPS for the past fifteen years.
He said despite sustained advocacy, retirees noted that the struggle has so far yielded only unfulfilled promises, including one failed passage attempt by the 9th National Assembly.
The union expressed renewed optimism following the passage of the Police Exit Bill by the 10th House of Representatives on 18th November 2025 and its subsequent transmission to the Senate for harmonization.
In view of this development, the leadership of police retirees nationwide is urging all affected retired officers to gather at the National Assembly to collectively appeal for speedy Senate approval of the harmonized bill.
They also plan to lobby for prompt presidential assent once the bill is forwarded to the Presidency.
The statement stressed that the passage of the bill would mark a major step toward resolving long-standing welfare challenges faced by retired police personnel across the country
