Member of the House of Representatives representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Dujuman Katsina, has distributed ₦54,270,000 as educational support to 2,199 students from his constituency.
The distribution took place on Saturday at the Musawa Local Government Secretariat, under the education committee of the lawmaker, chaired by the former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi.
The beneficiaries were selected from various wards across Musawa and Matazu after thorough screening.
The students are studying in universities, colleges of education, and polytechnics both within and outside Katsina State.A total of 1,029 university students received ₦30,000 each, amounting to ₦30,870,000.
Additionally, 1,170 NCE and ND students received ₦20,000 each, totaling ₦23,400,000.This ₦54,270,000 educational support, given to 2,199 students in the second phase of the Dujiman Katsina scholarship program, demonstrates his commitment to securing the future of youths, whom he considers the leaders of tomorrow.
In his remarks during the distribution, Ahmed explained that the purpose of the assistance is to support the children of the less privileged so they can compete with those from well-to-do families in accessing education, without political considerations.
“We focus our political agenda on empowering young people and giving them opportunities to secure their future and that of society,” he said before the gathering.
He added that he will intensify efforts to secure a brighter future for the youth by providing educational opportunities, jobs, skills acquisition, agricultural programs, and other community development initiatives.
Similarly, he pledged to provide 420 additional job opportunities across the constituency to reduce unemployment and promote development.
So far, the lawmaker has already secured employment for at least 181 people in government institutions such as teaching hospitals, medical centers, fire service, police, military, immigration, and the NSCDC.
Regarding the new 420 job slots, Ahmed said: “I will bring the documents for the job opportunities here in Musawa so you can count them and confirm they are 420. This is part of my commitment to tackling unemployment.
”The Chairman of the House Committee on Internal Affairs further stated that he will distribute 500 new motorcycles to youths to ease transportation challenges.
He noted that he initially purchased 350 motorcycles but later added 150 more to increase the number of beneficiaries. According to him, the motorcycles will be distributed in the next phase of the empowerment program.
He also promised to continue prioritizing the development of the constituency and promoting unity, adding that he will not allow the words of detractors to distract him from doing what is right.
In his speech, the Chairman of Musawa Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Idris Gingin, described the scholarship program as a sustainable intervention that will bring the benefits of democracy closer to rural communities.
He said the support will reduce the hardship faced by students and strengthen the education sector in the state, adding that Dujiman Katsina’s educational initiatives align with the agenda of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
