…. commend frontline troops
The Commander 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, accompanied by Commander 455 Base Services Group, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore M Suleiman, and Commissioner of Police Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has conducted operational visit to frontline troops of Joint Task Force OPERATION MESA at Faruruwa and Tsaure wards in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, where they commended the troops for their resilience and recent extraordinary exceptional bravery action against rampaging bandits.
The Joint Task Force comprises of personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Police, the Directorate of State Services as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
During the visit, the Commander 3 Brigade expressed his admiration for the troops’ performance especially in the recent attack where they adequately repelled a fierce Bandit attack on their position, inflicting substantial casualties on the criminals.Brigadier General Tukur urged the soldiers to endeavour to maintain their current form, capacity and courage in addition to sustaining the tempo and momentum of their recent success, emphasizing that complacency must not set in.
The Brigade Commander expressed that their bravery and resilience in the face of adversity is highly commendable, urging them not to rest on their laurels in continuing to demonstrate same level of courage and determination in any encounter ahead.
The Commander revealed that efforts are underway to enhance and further encourage their capabilities in the ongoing operation.
In their separate commendations, the Commander 455 Base Service Group Air Commodore M Suleiman and Commissioner of Police Kano State Command CP Ibrahim Bakori also stressed the importance and benefits of discipline and teamwork, noting that, these qualities are the bedrock of required positive operational achievements.
The Commanders assured the troops that their operational and administrative challenges had been acknowledged.
Brigadier General Tukur also commiserated with the troops over that loss of 2 personnel that gave the supreme price during the encounter. Prayers were offered for the nation and the deceased personnel.
A statement signed by Major Babatunde Zubairu Assistant Director army public relations 3 brigade, Nigerian Army said the Troops were treated to a special luncheon, in recognition of their dedication, resilience, and sacrifices in safeguarding lives and maintaining peace in Kano and environs.
The visit comes in the wake of a well-coordinated counterattack by the troops, which resulted in overwhelming casualties on the bandits.
The success is seen from various quarters as a remarkable morale booster for the troops and testament to their training and dedication.
