As part of deliberate, intelligence driven operations to degrade hostile elements, the Nigerian Army (NA) has recorded significant operational successes nationwide over the past 48 hours.
The operations resulted in the neutralization of 10 terrorists, the arrest of seven criminal suspects and the recovery of two locally fabricated weapons, reaffirming the Army’s resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of operation.
In Kaduna State, troops conducting coordinated offensive and interdiction operations neutralized six terrorists.
Three violent extremists were intercepted and neutralized while attempting to infiltrate Rijana town in Kachia Local Government Area (LGA), while another three kidnappers were eliminated during clearance operations in Dangoma and Godogodo villages in Jema’a LGA.
Troops also thwarted armed robbery attempts along major highways, rescued stranded civilians, and maintained dominance along key routes.In other operations, troops neutralized one terrorist during a fighting patrol in Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State and destroyed terrorist hideouts in the area.
Similarly, three violent extremists were eliminated following a firefight along the Zaki-Biam–Ayati Road in Ukum LGA of Benue State. Across the South-South and North-Central regions, seven suspects were arrested for offences including illegal bunkering, drug trafficking and kidnapping.
Specifically, troops apprehended illegal bunkerers in Rivers State, seizing approximately 2,000 litres of stolen crude oil; arrested drug dealers in Delta and Katsina States.
The troops also recovered two locally fabricated firearms, illicit drugs and apprehended a suspected kidnapper in Cross River State. Large quantities of illegally refined petroleum products and suspected crude oil were also discovered and handled in accordance with extant directives.
Additionally, troops successfully rescued kidnap victims in Kogi State after engaging terrorists along the Kabba–Ayere Road. The criminals on sighting the troops abandon their captives and flee.
All rescued civilians are safe and currently receiving appropriate care, while sustained patrols continue to prevent a recurrence.
The Nigerian Army remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate to secure the nation and protect law-abiding citizens in aid to civil authorities.
These recent successes underscores improved intelligence synergy and effective inter-agency collaboration.
