
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) chapter, has expressed appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his dedication to the welfare of university lecturers in the state.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the union’s executive to the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Tanko Ibrahim, who is also a member of ASUU.
Comrade Samuel Allu, the Chairman of ASUU NSUK, thanked Governor Sule for his administration’s focus on the well-being of lecturers, which has played a significant role in the university’s academic achievements. “We urge the Honourable Commissioner to convey our gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, for his unwavering support for our welfare,” Allu said.
He also lauded Dr. Tanko’s performance as commissioner, stating, “The union takes pride in your accomplishments. Reports of your impactful leadership in the ministry are highly commendable.”
Dr. Tanko, in his response, thanked the union for the visit and assured them of the government’s continued support in creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning. He also praised ASUU for its commitment to academic excellence and pledged the ministry’s collaboration in promoting effective information dissemination.
In another development, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), led by Nasarawa State Head, Mr. Markus Inji Usman, briefed the commissioner on their ongoing efforts to regulate advertising practices in the state.
Mr. Usman highlighted challenges such as the activities of unregistered practitioners and unregulated outdoor advertising, calling for the ministry’s support in enforcing ethical standards.
In reply, Dr. Tanko assured ARCON of the ministry’s backing in raising public awareness and advised the council to collaborate with the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Investment for stronger enforcement of advertising regulations.
