National Assembly Joint Committee on ICT Conducts Oversight Visit to Galaxy Backbone’s National Shared Services Centre

A Communication Giant,Galaxy Backbone Limited (GBB) today hosted members of the National Assembly Joint Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity for an oversight visit to the National Shared Services Centre (NSSC), reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity architecture.

The delegation comprised members of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity and the House of Representatives Committee on Digital and Information Technology.

A statement signed by Chidi Okpala,Head, Corporate Communications said the visit was led by the Chairman, House Committee on Digital and Information Technology, Hon. Stanley Olajide Adedeji, on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, Senator Shuiab Afolabi Salisu.

The oversight visit was aimed at assessing Galaxy Backbone’s activities, projects, and programmes, as well as engaging Management on key operational and administrative matters.

The interaction provided an opportunity for robust discussions on the agency’s mandate, performance milestones, and strategic direction in advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

In his remarks, Hon. Adedeji emphasized the critical role of technology in national development, noting that sustained legislative support for the ICT sector remains essential to Nigeria’s economic growth, security, and global competitiveness.

He described Galaxy Backbone as a strategic national asset that must be supported and strengthened to effectively deliver on its mandate.

The Chairman further underscored the importance of greater investment and funding for government ICT institutions, stressing that organisations such as Galaxy Backbone are pivotal to building the digital infrastructure required to support governance, economic resilience, and Nigeria’s future competitiveness.

Welcoming the delegation, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, expressed appreciation to the Joint Committee for its continued oversight and support. He reiterated GBB’s commitment to providing secure, reliable, and scalable ICT infrastructure and shared services to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the private sector across the country.

During the visit, Management delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the organisation’s current performance status and strategic roadmap. Central to the briefing was the Integrated Digital Transformation Strategy (IDTS) 2024–2028, which serves as GBB’s blueprint for driving sovereign digital transformation, expanding national infrastructure reach, enhancing cybersecurity resilience, and enabling seamless government-to-government and government-to-citizen services.

The engagement concluded with a tour of the National Shared Services Centre, where members of the Joint Committee were briefed on critical infrastructure, operational frameworks, and service delivery capabilities supporting Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.Galaxy Backbone therefore calls on Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and other government establishments to leverage its world-class Tier III data centres and extensive high-speed fibre infrastructure to strengthen service delivery, enhance data sovereignty, and promote operational efficiency.
