Management of ABUTH Zaria reels out Achievements in 2025, pledged to continue to work harder this year.

As we begin with the year 2026, Management extends sincere appreciation to every member of staff of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, for their dedication, professionalism and resilience

The Year 2025 recorded meaningful achievements, every Unit of the hospital remained functional, and we are able to vigorously pursue the following responsibilities in line with our actions plan.

1. We are able to boost the internally Generated revenue through technological innovation and various Ventures. We provided a perfect atmosphere for digital transformation through the different modules on the electronic Health records (EHR), where Patients health and financial records are stored on a secured computer system instead of paper.

2. We are able to create a center of excellence on training of all categories of Medical Staff, Students, Nursing training and other Para Medical programs.

3. Recently our School of Nursing has been upgraded to the College of Nursing by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)

4. Our School of Biomedical Engineering is fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for OND and HND programs.

5. The Hospital has reached a milestone for gaining full accreditations of most of our departments, by the National Postgraduate Medical College (NPMCN) and West Africa College of Surgeons (WACS)

6. We have activated comatose units that are key in service delivery and research in the hospital, i.e. Servicom, ACTU, HREC, Grant Unit, Information & protocol

During the year 2025, ABUTH has undergone significant renovations and expansion with modern facilities which includes

* Comfortable Patient Wards and accommodations

* Emergency department and Trauma center

* Neonatal intensive care unit

* Molecular laboratory*Pharmacy Quality control unit

* Looking at the dire need for the Hospital to have a lasting Solution to the Sewer treatment plant and Water Supply System Upgrade, the Management Initiate the process of the Rehabilitation, because it has taken the Hospital forty (40)years to reach this stage/feat.

* Project monitoring and Evaluation Committee and other Members of Staff on behalf of Management witnessed the official takeover of the completion of the rehabilitation and furnishing of ABUTH Guest House and Boys Quarters.

The Guest House mainly serves the accommodation for the Board Members, and other dignitaries. Hospital Guests are also being accommodated at the Guest House.

ABUTH is currently one of the 3 Institutions in Nigeria and the only 1 in Northern Nigeria that has commenced the Gynaecologic Oncology Sub specialty (IGS) with the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN)

Dr Aisha Mustapha and Dr Anisah Yahya are currently doing their clinical fellowship and Postdoctoral scholarship at Sylvester comprehensive Cancer center, University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, USA.

Management has provide 2 TCD Machines to Paediatric department and a Gazelle Hemoglobin variant machine to Heamatology department. These machines will go along way in improving early diagnosis and providing care for people with SCD

During the year the Chief Medical Director has received the President of the International College of Dentists (ICD) Dr Ian Doyle and his wife in his office, the President was in Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital to commission Dental Implantology NADI, in the Faculty of Dentistry at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria.

Facilities that were commissioned at the Dental school include three implants machines, four dental implantology training repositories, and MSD I advanced surgical kits, other instruments and equipment at the Dental academy are 30 Dental implant abutments, 25 Dental implants, and two hand pieces (contra angle).

During the year also Ag. Director, Division for Africa, Department of Technical Cooperation, International Atomic Energy Agency ( IAEA) Mr. Gashaw Gebeyehu Wolde, was in ABUTH, on his scheduled visit to Nigeria, and he was in ABUTH to provide technical support, disseminating scientific safety Information, collaboration and assistant on technical support, under the Federal Government National Cancer Control Program, six (6) Cancer treatments centers were identified to build Infrastructure, procured and supply equipment, and train Personnel, and two staff from ABUTH were trained and training components for health care workers had commenced.

A total of 536 deserving staff were promoted to various positions, ranks, and Salaries grade during the year 2025 Promotion exercise in the hospital while 518 staff were recruited/employed during the year

All of these achievements have been possible because of the vibrant Management and enthusiastic staff who had worked tremendously in order to accomplish the strategic goals and objectives of the hospital.

Management count on all ABUTH staff on their continued cooperation and requests them to remain committed to excellence and ethical standards in keeping the hospital forward focused

Management implores Members of staff to put in their best towards their responsibilities and hope that with the cooperation of all staff the hospital will continue to grow in peace, progress and development

Management wishes to reiterate its commitments in providing highly specialized affordable and accessible Healthcare services that would meet the healthcare needs of our teeming Patients.

We pray that the Almighty Allah will help us, guide, and protect us in all our undertakings
