Kebbi state Police Command, said it has arrested two Suspected Kidnappers at Ka’oje in Bagudo LGA of the state after a gun duel and rescued the kidnapped victim.
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said a gang of kidnappers numbering about five, invaded the residence of one Alhaji Buda Sambo of Sire Here village in Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State, kidnapped his son, named Aliyu Alhaji Buda age 14yrs, and took him to unknown destination.
The statement further said that, acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer, Ka’oje, swiftly mobilized a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes, trailed the hoodlums to Sada forest and engaged them into a fierce gun duel. As a result of the high fire power of the combined team of security personnel, the kidnappers escaped into the deep forest with fatal gunshot wounds.
According to the statement, while the search and rescue operation was ongoing, one Aliyu Alhaji Shehu, alias ALTINE, and Abubakar Umaru, alias Bube, all of Orda village in Bagudo LGA of the State, were arrested while the kidnapped victim, Aliyu Alhaji Buda was also successfully rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family after receiving treatment.
The statement indicates that, in the course of preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have committed the said offense together with their fleeing syndicate members namely, Dogo, Magaji, Bande and Janyo all of Bagudo and Orda village, who are still at large.
Adding that, the suspects also confessed to have committed another kidnapping incident that occurred on the 28th October, 2025, at about 0000hrs, where one Alhaji Alti 70yrs of Orda village was kidnapped.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani had applauded the swiftness, courage and professionalism displayed by the DPO Ka’oje and his team and charged them to sustain the existing synergy amongst them with a view to curbing the emerging kidnapping activities and other violent crimes in the area.
CP Sani also directed the DPO to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, with a view to track down the fleeing suspects for discreet investigation and diligent protection.
In the statement, the CP called on members of the public to remain calm, vigilant and continue to provide the police and other security agencies with vital, accurate and timely information for immediate response.
