Gov Uba Sani of Kaduna State has reinvented his administration commitment in giving due attention to healthcare delivery and improved wellbeing of the citizenry.
The Governor restated this while commissioning the headquarters of the state primary health care board, and commencement of distribution of medical equipment and ambulance to hospitals in the state.
He described the occasion as a significant milestone that has been reached in the administration’s collective effort to strengthen health care delivery across Kaduna State.
According to him,”with a clear sense of responsibility, I commissioned the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board Headquarters, flagged off the distribution of medical equipment and ambulances to primary health care facilities statewide, and inducted 1,800 newly recruited health workers into service.
”Governor Uba Sani said these actions reaffirm our administration’s firm commitment to primary health care as the foundation of a responsive, equitable, and people-centred health system.
He maintained that the deployment of modern medical equipment alongside seventeen ambulances, comprising both basic and advanced life-support units, has substantially enhanced emergency response and referral services across our communities.
The Governor explained that this intervention complements the Emergency Medical Ambulance Service introduced three months ago and reflects our determination to ensure that timely, life-saving care is available to all, regardless of location.
On the commissioning of the Primary Health Care Board Headquarters, the largest of its kind in Nigeria, he said it provides a central platform for planning, coordination, performance monitoring, and accountability within the state’s primary health care system.
Equally important is the induction of 1,800 health workers, representing the first phase of a structured five-year annual recruitment programme designed to reinforce frontline service delivery.
This expansion of our health workforce is supported by the full implementation of CONMESS and CONHESS, underscoring our belief that well-motivated and fairly rewarded professionals are essential to quality health outcomes.
Gov Uba Sani added that these measures build on significant achievements already recorded: the upgrade of 255 primary health care centres; the establishment of 23 PHC Centres of Excellence; the creation of 120 neonatal corners; the installation of three oxygen plants; the reconstruction, renovation, and equipping of 19 general hospitals; the attainment of 100 per cent availability of essential medicines, making Kaduna State the first to achieve this milestone; and the distribution of 8,000 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods.
He also reaffirmed that collectively, these interventions reaffirm his determination to build a healthier Kaduna State; one in which no community is left behind and every citizen can rely on accessible, affordable, and quality primary health care.
