More than one thousand prominent women from across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State have defected from various political parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), citing the exceptional leadership qualities and developmental strides of Governor Uba Sani as their motivation.
The new entrants were formally received into the APC by the Kaduna State Woman Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman, popularly known as (Mai Ginau), during a brief but colourful ceremony held in state party office, Kaduna.
The women, who represented different political backgrounds and professional groups, said their decision to join the ruling party was driven by the visible achievements recorded by Governor Uba Sani in less than three years in office.
Addressing the gathering, Hajiya Suleiman described the defection as a clear testimony to the growing popularity of the APC under Governor Sani’s inclusive and people-oriented administration. She praised the governor for prioritising women’s empowerment, grassroots development, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of ordinary citizens, saying these have endeared him to the people of Kaduna State.“
Governor Uba Sani has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the welfare of women and youths across the state. His administration has continued to promote inclusiveness, and that is why you are all welcome home, because the APC is your home”, she told the jubilant crowd.
The APC woman leader congratulated the women for what she described as a “bold and wise” decision to align with the progressive vision of the party, assuring them that they would enjoy equal treatment and opportunities as existing members.
According to her, the party under the leadership of Governor Sani will continue to provide platforms for women to participate meaningfully in governance and contribute to the progress of Kaduna State
