Kaduna Govt Resolves Dispute with JUSUN, Strike to Be Called Off Immediately

The Kaduna State Government has resolved its dispute with the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kaduna Chapter, clearing the way for the immediate suspension of the union’s one-week strike and the full resumption of judicial activities across the state.

According to a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, a high-level government delegation met with the State Executive Committee of JUSUN on Monday, 23 February 2026, at the Attorney-General’s Chamber to address the issues in contention.

The union’s demands included the implementation of financial autonomy for the State Judiciary, consequential salary adjustments from the new minimum wage, payment of outstanding salary arrears for April and May 2021, and settlement of leave grant arrears.Following extensive deliberations, all issues were amicably resolved in line with the directive of Governor Uba Sani, CON.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr. James Kanyip, described the meeting as fruitful, noting that the outcome reflects the Governor’s strong commitment to industrial harmony and enhanced productivity in the public service.

The State Government commended JUSUN’s leadership for its maturity and cooperation, urging judiciary staff to resume work immediately in the interest of effective justice delivery in Kaduna State.
