The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community-based security and improving service delivery with the commencement of a week-long capacity-building programme for personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilante Services.
A statement from the state ministry of information said the training brings together over 300 participants from the 23 Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to enhance grassroots security structures.
The programme, organised by the Kukah Centre in collaboration with supporting partners, aims to improve community security initiatives and promote accountability in service delivery across the state.
It aligns with the Kaduna State Government’s broader strategy of empowering local security structures to complement formal security agencies effectively.
Speaking at the opening session, Project Manager Bamber Teerseer said the training is designed to equip vigilante personnel with the knowledge and practical skills needed to improve their operations within communities.
He noted that strengthening community-based security actors will bring security services closer to the people while enhancing public trust and responsiveness.
Declaring the training open, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu SAN, described the programme as timely and consistent with the security priorities of the Uba Sani administration.
He emphasised that the government places a high premium on protecting lives and property and will continue to support initiatives that strengthen community security mechanisms.
In his remarks, Commander of the Kaduna State Vigilante Services, Ali Audu (Rtd.), expressed appreciation for the training opportunity, noting that it will expose participants to modern approaches to crime prevention and community engagement.
He reaffirmed the vigilante service’s commitment to supporting the Kaduna State Government in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
