The Kano State Ramadan Feeding Programme Committee, established by Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has provided meals to over 1.1 million people across the eight metropolitan Local Government Areas within the first 10 days of the holy month.
The Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Ahmed Tijjani Auwalu, disclosed this shortly after an inspection of feeding centers in Fagge, Nassarawa, and Gwale on Friday.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Usman Gwadabe, Director of Public Enlightenment, Government House, Kano said the chairman, through the Committee Secretary and Special Adviser on Administration, Akibu Isa Murtala, noted that the 115 approved centers, distribute 1,000 food packages daily to neediest.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the performance of the food providers, noting that most have strictly adhered to specifications to ensure hygienic feeding standards.
Commissioner Auwalu, who leads one of the sub-committees within the 40-man main committee, added that vendors found breaching contractual agreements were called to order and have already adjusted.
He thanked Governor Yusuf for increasing the centres from 95 of last year to 115 for his love and passion to help the less privileged to have quality food during Ramadan breaking of the fast.
The chairman appealed to the Kano people to continue praying for more blessings to Governor Yusuf, the administration, Kano and the nation as a whole.
Commissioner Auwal revealed that information gathered from other ad-hoc committees was also satisfactory.
