
The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, CON, has approved the immediate release of ₦2.1 billion for the payment of outstanding gratuities owed to retired local government workers covering the period January 2020 to May 2025.
This is contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs,Alh Ibrahim Adamu Jajere issued to newsmen.
It said that this approval reflects the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and its resolve to ensure that retirees who have served the state faithfully receive their entitlements promptly.
Governor Mai Mala Buni further directed that gratuity payments be integrated into the Local Government monthly financial schedule, ensuring that future retirement benefits are paid regularly and without backlog, alongside pensions.
The commissioner said on behalf of the state government. I described the move as a demonstration of the Governor’s compassionate and people-centered leadership, aimed at providing financial relief and dignity to senior citizens.
The Ministry has commenced arrangements for the transparent and immediate disbursement of the approved funds to all eligible retirees.
This initiative forms part of the Governor’s broader agenda to strengthen fiscal responsibility and enhance the welfare of citizens who have contributed to the state’s growth and development.
