Joint Security Operatives Foils Cattle Rustling, Neutralise Suspect in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command, in collaboration with the Military and other security stakeholders, has disrupted a cattle-rustling operation by suspected Lakurawa bandits in Bunza Local Government Area of the State.

The suspects had earlier attacked Tungan Babu Lada village, where they shot and killed one Usman Ferungu before the arrival of security operatives, and attempted to escape with rustled cattle.

In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman said, acting swiftly, a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer, Kangiwa Division, pursued and intercepted the fleeing bandits at Garin Mayo Village, where a gun duel ensued.

The statement added that, in the course of the gun duel engagement, one of the suspected bandits was neutralized, while four motorcycles believed to have been used by the criminals were jointly recovered.

The operation effectively disrupted the criminal network, prevented further escalation and additional loss of lives, and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action in the state.

The statement, Kebbi State Police Command assures members of the public that aggressive patrols and intelligence driven operations will continue across the State in line with the proactive policing vision of the Commissioner of Police,
