Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the Radda Model Smart School in Charanchi Local Government Area ahead of its commissioning spending over two hours carefully assessing the level of work at the project site.
The Radda Model Smart School is widely regarded as one of the signature projects of the Radda administration, conceived to expand access to quality education for gifted, talented, and underprivileged children across Katsina State.
The visit was aimed at personally reviewing the final stages of the project and ensuring that all contractors deliver strictly in line with approved specifications and timelines.
The Governor was conducted round the various sections of the school by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, alongside representatives of the project consultants, including Hajiya Zainab Bugaje, commissioning committee and contractors handling the project.
Briefing the Governor, the Chairman of the Commissioning Committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Alhaji Nura Saleh Katsayal, disclosed that both the male and female hostels are designed to accommodate a total of 1,000 students in line with the approved plan.
The school now wears a new look, with a mini solar-powered grid installed to guarantee uninterrupted power supply. Cleaners and facility managers were also seen putting final touches to classrooms, hostels, laboratories, and the surroundings in preparation for the commissioning ceremony.It was further gathered that student admission and teacher recruitment processes have reached advanced stages, with strict adherence to due process and merit-based selection.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education is working round the clock to ensure that identified students from the 361 electoral wards of the state will benefit from the Radda Model Smart School, pending the completion of other Special Model Smart Schools in the Daura and Funtua Senatorial Zones.
Work is also progressing simultaneously at the other Special Model Smart School sites located in Jikamshi in the Funtua Zone and Durmukol in the Daura Zone, as part of the administration’s broader strategy to replicate similar modern learning environments across the state.
During the visit, Governor Radda also held meeting with the recently inaugurated Committee on the Commissioning of the Radda Model Smart School, to review readiness plans, timelines, and any outstanding tasks ahead of the school’s official opening.
The committee is mandated to oversee the commissioning process, address remaining construction or setup issues, and ensure that all required standards are fully met prior to commencement of academic activities.
The Governor was accompanied on inspection visit by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; the Executive Secretary of the State Development Management Board, Dr. Mustapha Shehu; CDP Coordinator, Dr. Kamaluddeen Kabir; the Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Kabir Gafia; and the Director-General of KATDICT, Mr. Naufal Ahmed, among others
