Governor Radda Moves to Boost Food Security, Targets 600 Hectares Are Dam for Irrigation

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inspected equipment for the dredging of Are Dam as part of efforts to expand irrigation farming and enhance food security in the state.

The dam, expected to cover 600 hectares of land, is designed to increase agricultural productivity and provide farmers with reliable access to water for irrigation.

During the inspection, the Managing Director of Katsina State Water Board, Dr. Tukur Hassan Tingilin, briefed the Governor on the progress of work and the equipment deployed for the dredging operation.

Governor Radda expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing the project within the shortest possible time.

The Governor also reaffirmed the Building Your Future administration commitment to infrastructure development and agricultural transformation as key drivers of economic prosperity.

The Are Dam project is expected to benefit thousands of farmers across the state, leading to improved crop yields, enhanced livelihoods, and economic growth.

A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad, chief press secretary to the Governor, said the Governor was accompanied by top government functionaries.
