Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, today joined hundreds of mourners in Kuki town for the funeral prayer (Janaza) of the late District Head , Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu Yariman Kuki, who passed away last night after a brief but prolonged illness.
The Janaza, held early this morning at his residence, drew family members, traditional rulers, community leaders, and sympathizers from Kuki, Dutsinma, and neighbouring communities all gathered to pay their final respects to the revered traditional ruler.
After the prayer, Governor Radda, alongside other sympathizers, escorted the remains of the late monarch to a designated area within the compound, where he was laid to rest.
Governor Radda described the death of the District Head as a deep loss to Kuki, Katsina State, and the broader traditional institution, noting his lifelong commitment to peace and community development.
Late Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu Yariman Kuki was celebrated for his humility, courage, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of his people. His leadership was marked by patience, compassion, and a strong devotion to unity and progress.
He was also the father of Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki, former Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and former Executive Director of the Katsina State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Speaking shortly after the burial rites, Governor Radda offered a tribute, saying:“Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu Kuki was a father figure upright, gentle, and deeply committed to the peace and development of the Kuki community. His passing is a painful loss, not only to his family but to all of us in Katsina State.
”The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the late District Head’s shortcomings, envelop him in mercy, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. He also prayed for comfort and strength for the bereaved family.
He urged the Kuki community to uphold the noble values the late traditional ruler embodied service, compassion, unity, and humble leadership.May Allah grant the soul of Alhaji Nuhu Aliyu Yariman Kuki eternal rest and bless his family with the fortitude to bear this loss.
Those in attendance included the Member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Dutsinma, Mallam Mohammed Khamis; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Usman Abba Jaye; the Yan Dakan Katsina and District Head of Dutsinma, Alhaji Sada Mohammed Sada; and the District Head of Kuraye, Alhaji Muhammad Darda’u.
A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad, chief press secretary to the Governor, said others present were the Chairman of Dutsinma Local Government, Hon. Abdulsalam Shema; the Chairman of the Teachers’ Service Board; and several other dignitaries.
