As we mark the joyous and spiritually uplifting occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all Muslim officers, soldiers and their families for successfully witnessing this sacred month’ of Ramadan.

This celebration marks the end of a period of devotion, sacrifice, self-discipline and deep spiritual reflection that resonate profoundly with the ethos and professional calling of the soldier.

This year’s observance of Eid-el-Fitr is particularly unique and deeply symbolic. For the first time in recent memory, the holy month of Ramadan coincided with the Christian Lenten Season, such that both Muslim and Christian personnel of our great Army undertook fasting and spiritual reflection at the same time.

This rare alignment has provided a powerful reminder of the unity that defines us as an army bound by shared purpose. Although the forms of worship may differ, the essence of both observances is the same sacrifice, humility, self-restraint, compassion, prayer and renewal. These are also the moral foundations of military service.

The discipline required to deny oneself comfort, the resilience to endure hardship and the commitment to spiritual and moral renewal are qualities that shape not only the faithful but also the professional soldier.

This unique convergence of sacred observances has therefore not merely been a coincidence of calendars but also a profound expression of our collective strength. It has demonstrated that unity does not require uniformity and that diversity of faith, when grounded in mutual respect, strengthens rather than divides us.

As members of one professional force, we have fasted in different ways but reflected together, endured together and renewed our sense of purpose together.

This is a strength we must continue to cherish and uphold. Therefore, in this period of joy and thanksgiving, we must also pause in solemn reflection to remember those whose sacrifices made our celebrations possible.

We honour with deep reverence our fallen heroes, gallant officers and soldiers who paid the supreme price in defence of our nation. Their courage, patriotism, and selfless devotion remain etched in the history and conscience of our Service.

Their memory continues to inspire us and their sacrifice strengthens our resolve to remain steadfast in the defence of peace, unity and national sovereignty.

We also remember with pride and gratitude, our troops currently deployed across various theatres of operation. Even as we celebrate with our families and loved ones, many of our comrades remain resilient and unwavering in their commitment to safeguarding our territorial integrity and protecting the lives of our citizens.

They serve in difficult and often demanding environments, far from the comfort of their homes, yet steadfast in loyalty and professionalism. Their endurance, sacrifice and courage represent the true spirit of the Nigerian soldier.

We pray for their safety, strength and success in all ongoing operations and we look forward to their safe return.Let me assure every officer and soldier that your welfare remains a central pillar: of my Leadership and Command Philosophy.

The strength of any army lies not only in its equipment or operational capability, but in the wellbeing, morale and confidence of its personnel.

I therefore remain fully committed to improving living conditions, enhancing professional development, strengthening support systems for families and ensuring that every member of the Nigerian Army is treated with dignity, fairness and care. Your sacrifices for our nation will always be matched by our collective responsibility to support and uplift you.

As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, it is also important to acknowledge that the defence and security of our nation is a shared responsibility. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to our sister Services and to all security and intelligence agencies whose collaboration, professionalism and dedication continue to strengthen our collective efforts.

The synergy among our Services remains vital to sustaining operational success and national stability. Together, through cooperation and share commitment, we continue to confront challenges and preserve the peace and unity of our nation.

I also wish to convey our profound gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic for his unwavering support, steadfast leadership and continued commitment to the welfare, operational effectiveness and institutional development of the Armed Forces.

Mr President’s strategic guidance remains a strong source of motivation as we carry out our constitutional responsibilities in service to the nation.

As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us carry forward the lessons of Ramadan in our compassion for others, discipline in conduct, humility in success and gratitude in all circumstances. Let us continue to strengthen the bonds of unity that define our Service.

Let us also remain guided by honour, professionalism and unwavering loyalty to our nation.

May this joyous occasion bring peace to our hearts, strength to our resolve and a renewed sense of purpose.

May the Almighty Allah accept our prayers, reward our sacrifices and continue to guide and protect us all. I wish you and your families a peaceful, joyful and blessed Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
