Gombe State Gets New Head of Civil Service as Prof. Muazu Shehu Takes Over

historic handover ceremony took place on Thursday February 19th, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the OHOCs old liberty hotel Jekadafari, as Prof. Muazu Usman Shehu assumed office as the new Head of Civil Service, Gombe State.

A statement signed by Amos Pononyamba Fabulous, information officer, office of the state head of service said the event marked a new chapter in the state’s civil service history.

In his landmark address, Prof. Shehu expressed gratitude to God and Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON for appointing him to this esteemed position.

He assured that he would elevate the Gombe State Civil Service to new heights, making it efficient and a reference point for other states.

He emphasized the importance of the civil service as the engine room of delivering public-oriented programs and policies, soliciting cooperation from all staff. He urged civil servants to remain loyal to the government while sustaining reform policies of his predecessors.

Outgoing Head of Civil Service, Alh. Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, congratulated Prof. Shehu and urged permanent secretaries, directors, and staff to support the new HOCS.

He appreciated Governor Yahaya for realizing his potential and assured of his continued support.

Goodwill messages were received from Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Jalo Ibrahim Ali Mni, and Auditor General for Local Government, Muhammad Bappayo Abdulmumuni, reiterating their loyalty to the government.

The event was attended by political appointees, permanent secretaries/Equivalents,directors, senior staff, friends, family, and well-wishers.
