The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA) and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah has underscored the need to strengthen collaboration amongst the various services.
This was contained in a statement signed by lieutenant colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma Acting Deputy Director Army public relations,6 division Nigerian Army made available to newsmen.
He made the call when the Flag Officer (FOC) Central Naval Command (CNC), Yenagoa, Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim, and FOC Logistics (LOG) Command, Ogara, Rear Admiral Abiodun Alade, jointly paid him a courtesy call at Headquarters, 6 Division, Port Harcourt Barracks on 5 December 2025.
While congratulating the FOCs for their respective appointments, the GOC described it as well deserved. He added that presently in the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), the workload lies on members of the 42 Regular Course of the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). He emphasized the readiness of 6 Division under his command to collaborate with their respective commands. He also reassured that the collaboration will not be limited to joint operations in the AFN but will essentially strengthen the security of lives and property, particularly the protection of critical national infrastructures in the Niger Delta region.
Stating the purpose of his visit, the FOC CNC, Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim, disclosed that his relationship with the GOC dates back to their formative stage as cadets and coursemates at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). He added that the career of the GOC cannot be stated without emphasizing the influence the Nigerian Navy (NN) had on him before he reached the peak of his career.
Rear Admiral Suleiman Ibrahim further informed that by virtue of the training the GOC has received from the NN, he can be considered part of the NN Special Forces, stressing that being a diver who has reached the stage of Scuba diver shows that such a person has the quality to go underwater to significant depths. He pointed out that no single service can operate alone; hence all hands must be on deck to tackle the security situation ravaging the nation. He emphasized the need for collaboration and continued synergy with security agencies.
Similarly, the FOC LOG, Rear Admiral Abiodun Alade, stated that the GOC exemplifies the core values of the NN, which include professionalism, integrity, and teamwork. He further described the GOC as an officer with integrity and a morale booster, who places a high premium on troop welfare. He also appreciated the GOC as a reliable coursemate, with their relationship spanning decades, right from their formative stage at the NDA.
