The Governing Council of the Federal University Gusau has approved the appointment of Professor Tukur Adamu as its 4th substantive Vice Chancellor.
In a statement, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Engr. Aminu Sani Isa, the appointment was approved during its 32nd regular meeting held from 9th to 12th December 2025 in Abuja.
The Council also named Dr. Shaibu Adona Sadiku as the new University Librarian and Qs. Agwari Musa Jafaru as Director, Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance.
Prof. Adamu, who succeeds the incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof. M.G. Abubakar, currently serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Development) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
Born on 2nd February 1962 in Gurbi, Talata Mafara, he holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Zoology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a PhD in Zoology from Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
He began his career as a Fisheries Officer in Sokoto State in 1987 before joining Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 1989, rising to become a Professor of Parasitology in 2005. He has held various administrative roles, including Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara.
The new University Librarian, Dr. Shaibu Adona Sadiku, hails from Kogi State. Born on 19th November 1969, he holds degrees from Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and the University of Ilorin. He joined Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2008 and rose to Principal Librarian, holding various leadership positions within the library system.
Also appointed is Qs. Agwari Musa Jafaru as Director, Physical Planning, Works and Maintenance. Born in Suleja on 15th September 1985, he graduated in Quantity Surveying from the Federal University of Technology Minna and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Procurement Management.
He previously served at Sokoto State University, rising to Chief Quantity Surveyor.
According to the statement, all the three appointments followed the recommendations of the Joint Senate/Council Selection Board.
