DIVISION TRAINING SCHOOL, WARRANT OFFICER ACADEMY CONCLUDE JOINT FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE IN JAJI

In a strategic move to bolster operational efficiency and foster inter-unit camaraderie, the 1 Division Training School (DTS) successfully conducted the final Field Training Exercise (FTX) for SHINING STAR Course IX/26.

The exercise, codenamed EX BUGUN DOKI, was held in collaboration with the Warrant Officers Academy (WOA) Course 47, which provided the essential command and control framework.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Yake JinginaActing Deputy Director Army Public Relations1 Division Nigerian Army/ Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the intensive four-day exercise took place at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) Training Area in Jaji from Thursday, 26 February to Sunday, 1 March 2026.

It said it is designed to test troops against a controlled adversary, EX BUGUN DOKI provided students of EX SHINING STAR IX/26 with practical immersion in battle drills, Counter-Insurgency (COIN) operations, Ambush/Counter-Ambush tactics, and IED clearance.

Participants also underwent rigorous training in raid operations, enemy camp neutralization, and advanced map reading. These modules are specifically designed to actualize the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu.

The 1 Division Training Officer (DTO), Brigadier General Abdullahi Hassan Gwani, emphasized that this joint collaboration ensures training synergy. He noted that the exercise aligns with the COAS’s vision:

“To advance the transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environments.

“The Commandant, Warrant Officers Academy, Brigedier General Anthony Wende who spoke through Lieutenant Colonel Zeerenjo Aguomba remarked that such training is the bedrock of preparedness, stressing that rigorous simulation prepares personnel to operate effectively, safely, and lawfully under the high-pressure environment of active combat.

He further expressed his gratitude to the COAS for the continued support and resources provided for troop development.

Key highlights of the FTX included a 10-kilometer tactical advance, section and company-level battle procedures, and defensive routines encompassing patrols, search and rescue operations, and precision raids.
