DG NITT Zaria Urges Religious and Traditional Leaders to Champion Road Safety at Kano Public Lecture.

The Director General/ Chief Executive, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Dr. Bayero Salih Farah—represented by the Special Assistant to the DG/CE, Mallam Sani Barau—has called on religious and traditional leaders to intensify advocacy on road safety in their various communities.

He made the call during a one-day public lecture organised by the NITT Outreach Learning Centre, Dawakin Kudu, Kano State, with the theme “Roles of Religious Groups in Preaching Safety and Accident Prevention in Nigeria.

”Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Head of NITT Kano Outreach Learning Centre, Mallam Abdullahi Nakura, emphasized the relevance of the programme, stressing that the initiative aligns with NITT’s mandate to advance transport and logistics development nationwide.

The lecture featured presentations from religious scholars and academics who highlighted the moral, social, and institutional responsibilities tied to road safety.

They further stressed principles such as love for one another, protection of lives and property, adherence to traffic laws, the need for improved road infrastructure, and stronger enforcement of safety regulations.

Key presenters included Rev. Gaiya Abednego Markus, Dr. Nuhu Abdullahi Giwa, ACM Kabir Yusuf Nadabo (Rtd.), and Prof. Hassana Darma, who each provided unique insights in line with the event’s theme.

The Emir of Kano was represented by Alhaji Abba Yusuf, Hakimin Dawakin Kudu. Representatives from the FRSC, NSCDC, NPF, KAROTA, NARTO, RTEAN, CAN, and other stakeholders were also in attendance.
