The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, on December 16, 2025, received the leadership of the Youth Partnership for Africa’s Development (YOUPAD) on a courtesy and advocacy visit at the State Police Headquarters, Uyo.
A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Timfon John said the delegation was led by the President of the organization, Mr. Henry Nkem.
During the visit, the delegation stated that YOUPAD is a Pan-African youth organization committed to building leadership and entrepreneurial capacity among African youths, with the objective of contributing meaningfully to the continent’s integrated development, peace, and prosperity, in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The group further disclosed that a key component of its mission is the identification, recognition, and promotion of distinguished African leaders who exemplify integrity, professionalism, and selfless service to humanity.In recognition of these ideals, YOUPAD presented an Instrument of Commendation and conferred on CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, the Thomas Sankara Pan-African Selfless Leadership Award for Excellence, in acknowledgement of his exemplary leadership, institutional reforms, commitment to officers’ welfare, and notable achievements in crime prevention, security enhancement, and the securing of convictions in Akwa Ibom State efforts which have significantly enhanced public safety and strengthened public confidence in the Command.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to the organization for the visit and the honour bestowed on him.
He noted that the engagement of responsible, visionary youth organizations such as YOUPAD is critical to national and continental development.
According to CP Azare, “Your focus on leadership development, entrepreneurship, and Pan-African collaboration is commendable and aligns with the broader objectives of societal progress, peace, and security.
”The Commissioner further encouraged the youths to remain law-abiding, channel their energies towards productive ventures, and serve as ambassadors of peace, innovation, and positive change within their communities.
He reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to community partnership and its resolve to continue safeguarding lives and property across Akwa Ibom State.
