The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has paid condolence visits to the families of the late veteran journalist, Malam Aliyu Abubakar Getso, and the late revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Kabiru Ibrahim Babban Malami Madabo, who both recently passed away.During his visit to the residence of the late Aliyu Getso, the Deputy Governor described him as a distinguished media professional who devoted his life to promoting truth, justice, and public enlightenment through journalism.He noted that Getso’s lifelong commitment to ethical reporting and public service inspired generations of journalists and helped shape responsible media practice in Kano and across Nigeria.Comrade Abdussalam Gwarzo conveyed the sympathies of the Kano State Government to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. He further urged the family to take solace in the noble legacy the late journalist left behind.Responding on behalf of the family, relatives of the late Getso expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy Governor and the state government for the visit, describing it as a gesture that reflects the administration’s recognition of the invaluable contributions of media professionals to societal development.The Deputy Governor also proceeded to the residence of the late Sheikh Kabiru Ibrahim Babban Malami Madabo, who passed away on Thursday evening at his home in Madabo Quarters, Kano City, after a brief illness.A statement signed by Chief press secretary to the deputy governor Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu said the deputy governor offered prayers for the repose of his soul and condoled with his family members. He described the late Babban Malami as a respected community leader, Islamic scholar, and philanthropist who dedicated his life to the service of humanity and the upliftment of the less privileged.The Deputy Governor prayed that Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
