The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has pledged the continued support of the Nigerian Army to the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja.

A statement signed by Colonel Appolonia Anele Acting Director Army Public Relations said the COAS made the pledge while receiving the Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, during a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasized that strategic partnership remains critical to national security, noting that the NDC is strategically positioned to train personnel from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). He described the Commandant’s drive to improve the College’s curriculum as a welcome development.

According to the COAS, “Your drive for improved training and capacity building not only for the Armed Forces but also for MDAs is vital to our national security. Various concepts have evolved and the need to keep students abreast of these developments remains essential in safeguarding our territory. National security is no longer the sole responsibility of the Armed Forces and other security agencies. We must develop an inclusive curriculum that involves key government institutions.

”Earlier, the Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, commended the COAS for his firm and proactive handling of security challenges across the country. He noted that the evolving security landscape has necessitated adjustments to the College’s curriculum.

The Commandant also sought suggestions from the COAS, drawing on his wealth of experience as a former student and Directing Staff at the institution. He further appreciated the COAS and the Service Chiefs for their continued support to the College.
