COAS HOSTS EID-EL FITR LUNCHEON FOR OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA TROOPS REINFORCES UNITY AND WELFARE

In a significant move to boost morale and honour the sacrifices of frontline personnel, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, hosted an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon for troops of Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, under the 1 Division Area of Responsibility.

A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Ajemasu Yake Jingina Acting Deputy’ Director army public relations 1 division Nigerian army/sector 1 operation fansar yamma said rhe event, held in Sub-Sector 5 Forward Operating Base at DICON Agundu, Kachia Local Government on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

The luncheon served as a platform to foster camaraderie among officers, soldiers, and key stakeholders within the joint operations area.

Represented by the Commander, Corps of Signals, Major General MT Abdullahi, the COAS extended his warmest greetings to Muslim personnel and their families, congratulating them on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He noted that the values of devotion, discipline, and spiritual reflection inherent in Eid-el-Fitr are deeply aligned with the professional calling of a soldier.

Highlighting the unique nature of this year’s celebration, the COAS observed that the rare convergence of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season provided a powerful symbol of unity.

He noted that the simultaneous fasting and reflection by both Muslim and Christian personnel reinforced the bond within the Nigerian Army, proving that shared values of sacrifice and compassion transcend religious differences.

Reaffirming his command philosophy, Lieutenant General W Shaibu emphasized that troops welfare remains his top priority.

He assured personnel of the Army’s unwavering commitment to improving their living conditions, while enhancing professional development, and strengthening support systems for all soldiers and their families.

The COAS also underscored that national security is a “collective responsibility.” He expressed appreciation for the synergy between the Nigerian Army, sister services, and other intelligence agencies, as well as law abiding citizens, noting that such collaboration is vital for operational effectiveness and national stability. .

He further expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic leadership and continuous support of the Armed Forces.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander of Sub-Sector 5, Navy Captain Patrick Ali, described the luncheon as a vital tradition aimed at promoting esprit de corps.

He noted that the relaxed atmosphere allowed personnel to interact, reflect on their shared mission, and strengthen the bonds necessary for effective service delivery.

The occasion was graced by several high-ranking officials and guests, including: Rt Hon. Barrister Magaji Henry Danjuma, Deputy Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly,.
