In compliance with the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Kaduna State Local Government Accountability Mechanism (KadLGAM), and the Uba Sani Sustain Agenda, the Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, today chaired the presentation of the 2026 Budget Estimates at the Council Secretariat Chambers.
The Chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to embedding transparency, accountability, and citizen-centered governance across all sectors of the Local Government.

It said the event was attended by representatives from the Kaduna State Ministry of Local Government Affairs, top management staff of the Council, the Speaker and all 13 Councillors of the Legislative Council, Community Development Champions/Ambassadors from all wards, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), youth and women groups, representatives of persons with disabilities, traditional and religious leaders, as well as members of the media.
According to the statement,Engr. Jaga gave a concise presentation of the proposed 2026 Budget Estimates and provided a brief review of the current 2025 budget performance. The meeting, which lasted several hours, also provided a platform for robust engagements, where participants — including traditional and religious leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, and representatives of persons with special needs — offered constructive feedback. The Chairman responded to their observations and pledged to integrate their contributions into the final planning process.
In line with the Kaduna State Local Government Accountability Mechanism, and in the presence of state representatives — Mohammed Adamu, Director of Budget & Planning, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, and Yusuf Ishaku Goje, State Team Lead, Kaduna Local Government Accountability Mechanism (KadLGAM) — the Chairman formally inaugurated the Zaria Local Government Technical Working Group (TWG). This group will play a pivotal role in ensuring accountability, inclusiveness, and effective implementation of the budget process.
