The Executive Chairman Zaria Local Government, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), yesterday represented the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, GCON, at the official handover of the upgraded National External Quality Assessment Laboratory (NEQAL) in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The ceremony, organised by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) in collaboration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MSLCN) at the National TB and Leprosy Training Centre, Saye, Zaria, underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s laboratory systems and disease surveillance.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Engr. Jaga commended NACA and its development partners, particularly The Global Fund, for enhancing diagnostic capacity for HIV, TB, and malaria.
He noted that the upgraded facility will improve accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the 10th House of Representatives to sustained legislative support for healthcare development, while stressing professionalism and proper certification in the management of the facility to ensure sustainability and value for public investment.
