
The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Bauchi State, Hon. Usman Shehu Usman (Ubandoman Giade), attended the 2025 edition of Africast in Lagos, themed “Navigating the Digital Surge, Building a Resilient African Media Ecosystem for the Future.
” The conference, organized by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across Africa to discuss strategies for strengthening the continent’s broadcast and digital media landscape.
Declaring the event open, the Director-General of NBC, Dr. Charles Ebuebu, described Africast as a strategic forum for recalibration, noting that broadcasting in Africa has evolved beyond transmitters and receivers to exist in the cloud, app stores, algorithms, and the audience’s hands.
He emphasized the need for innovation, collaboration, and ethical regulation to drive the next phase of Africa’s media transformation. Discussions also focused on key pillars for growth, including infrastructure expansion, regulatory innovation, local content development, and capacity building.
