
Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed the bill establishing the Chieftaincy Law and Other Matters Related 2025, paving way for the creation of 13 Emirates and Chiefdom across the state.
The House passed the bill during plenary, presided over by the Speaker Abubakar Sulaiman.
The 13 Emirates and Chiefdoms recommended by the House Committee include Duguri Emirate with headquarters at Yuli, Bununu Emirate with headquarters at Bununu, Lere Emirate with headquarters at Lere, Jama’a Emirate with headquarters at Nabordo, Lame Emirate with headquarters at Gumau, and Toro Emirate with headquarters at Toro.
Others are Burra Emirate with headquarters at Burra, Ari Emirate with headquarters Gadar Maiwa, Warji Emirate with headquarters at Katanga, Darazo Emirate with headquarters at Darazo, Dambam Emirate with headquarters at Dambam, Giade Emirate with headquarters at Giade and Gamawa with headquarters at Gamawa.
The committee further recommends the renaming of Sayawa Chiefdom to Zaar and the relocation of its headquarters from Mhrim Namchi to Mhrim.Other bills passed by the House include Supplementary budget of over one hundred fifty four billion naira and Contributory Pension Scheme Repeal and Re-Enactment Bill.
The House also deliberated on other motions seeking government intervention in many filed of socioeconomic activities and rehabilitation of key roads in parts of the state
All the motions were adopted after extensive debate and referred to the relevant committees for further legislative action.
